Bill Mail Service
Communications in the nature of financial statements, bills, monthly account bills or any such other items of similar nature may be posted by a service provider to customers atleast once in 90 days under this service.
The Bill Mail Service does not include communication in the nature of letter mail or having personal communication or exclusive commercial publicity material. Inclusions (those permitted under Direct Post) are permitted at INR 0.25 per insertion.
The minimum quantity of articles to be posted at a time is 5000. Rate of postage will be INR 3.00 for a weight not exceeding 50 grams and INR 2.00 for additional 50 grams or a fraction thereof. The mails will be received at identified location provided. Bill Mail shall be fully sorted pincode wise and bundled delivery post office wise. There is no credit facility.
Direct Post Service

Direct Post is the un-addressed component of Direct Mail, and would comprise of un-addressed postal articles like letters, cards, brochures, questionnaires, pamphlets, samples, promotional items like CDs/floppies and Cassettes etc., coupons, posters, mailers or any other form of printed communication that is not prohibited by the Indian Post Office Act 1898 or Indian Post Office Rules 1933.
1. What is Direct Post?
With the increasing commercial activity in India, the need for Direct Advertising of their products and services by the business organizations is growing. Direct Mail, which can be defined as ‘printed matter usually carrying a sales message or announcement designed to elicit a response from a carefully selected consumer or business market’ is the most potent medium for Direct Advertising. In the advanced countries, Direct Mail now constitutes a pre dominant portion of mail traffic handled by Postal administrations. Direct mail can be both addressed as well as un-addressed. Direct Post is the un-addressed component of Direct Mail, and would comprise of un-addressed postal articles like letters, cards, brochures, questionnaires, pamphlets, samples, promotional items like CDs/floppies and Cassettes etc., coupons, posters, mailers or any other form of printed communication that is not prohibited by the Indian Post Office Act 1898 or Indian Post Office Rules 1933.

3. Are there any other conditions for availing Direct Post?
Only un-addressed postal articles like letters, cards, brochures, questionnaires, pamphlets, samples, promotional items like CDs/floppies and Cassettes etc., coupons, posters, mailers or any other form of printed communication that is not prohibited by the Indian Post Office Act 1898 or Indian Post Office Rules 1933.
A minimum quantity of 1000 pieces can be accepted under the ‘Direct Post’.
Articles to be accepted have to be such that they do not exceed the length and width of an A3 size paper.
Articles posted as ‘Direct Post’ will bear no address or name on the communication. These will be accepted in bulk in designated offices and will not be posted in a letter box.
In case of articles meant for delivery in other towns, Direct Post articles would be accepted in PIN Code wise bundles.
4. Since when has Direct Post been introduced?
The Direct Post has been introduced by Department of Posts vide its OM no. 39-01/2001-BDD dated 2nd June 2005.
5. Can the Direct Post articles be sent out of India?
No. The Direct post articles can be sent only within India.
6. Whom to contact for availing of Direct Post?
Direct Post articles will be accepted in designated postal offices for acceptance of Direct Post. Postal Circles will identify these offices, and designate them as ‘Direct Post Centres’. These offices could be a Direct mail Centre, Mass mailing Centre, Business Post Centre, GPO/HPO, or any other suitable office. These offices may be designated ‘Direct Post Centres’ (DPCs) for the purpose of Direct Post. Usually, only one DPC would be identified in a city.
Prospective users of Direct Post can contact Chief Postmaster Generals of their States for any inquiry in the matter. Alternatively, they can write in at business@indiapost.gov.in for any assistance that they may require.

7. Any other relevant facts about Direct Post?
The senders of Direct Post can specify the numbers and areas, in which the sender wishes the Direct Post articles to be distributed. However, no commitment would be given for delivery of the article to any particular address or a person.
The sender would be informed that the articles handed over by him had been delivered according to his instructions.
In case the sender desires the articles to be printed, or requires any other pre-mailing activity, this could also be provided on payment under the business post, separately. Though these activities can be combined with Direct Post, they do not form part of the product ‘Direct Post’.

Department of Posts is being developed as a one-stop shop to provide a range of utility services to the customers. Retail Post, one of the key brands of India Post, offers utility services to common man, thus providing convenience and affordability at the door steps of the common man. With Retail Post, India Post will be leveraging the vast network of more than 150,000 post offices across India.
Under Retail Post, we offer a range of services including the collection of electricity bill, telephone bills, insurance premia, collection of taxes and fee for the Government etc. Further under Retail Post, the Post office sells application forms of UPSC, SSC, AFMC, Universities etc, thus providing convenience to the common man in getting applications for various examinations.
In addition, under Retail Post, in association with third parties, we have also been providing many services on agency basis including the following:
India Post Passenger Reservation System (PRS): In order to provide Railway Tickets at doorstep of the public, Railway Reservation Tickets of all classes is booked at select Post Offices.
India Post Forex Service: India Post provides sale/purchase of foreign currency and travelers cheques through select Post offices. This is done in association with HDFC Bank.
India Post Gold Coins: In association with RML & WGC, India Post sells gold coins of the denomination 0.5 g, 1g, 5 g and 8 g of 24 carat (99.99% pure). The gold coins are packed in a sealed cover with the certification from Valcambi, Switzerland. It has the benefits like internationally recognized certification, low risk of duplication, quality packaging, product standardization, numbering and assayer certificate.
ePayment

e-Payment is a smart option for businesses and organizations to collect their bills or other payments through Post Office network. When businesses require collection of bills and other payments from customers across the country, Post Office offers them a simple and convenient solution in the form of e-Payment.
e-Payment is a many-to-one solution which allows collection of money (telephone bills, electricity bills, examination fee, taxes, university fee, school fee etc.) on behalf of any organization. The collection is consolidated electronically using web based software and payment is made centrally through cheque from a specifed Post Office of biller's choice.
The information and MIS regarding the payment can be had by the biller online. The MIS will contain the five fields of biller's choice like name, telephone number, application number etc. The service is currently available through more than 14,000 Post Offices across the country.
There is no agency in the market today with a large reach and established trust as the Post Office where the public can comfortably deposit all their bills in their neighbourhood.
Procedure for enrolling as National Biller under e-Payment
Any organization can contact Chief General Manager, Business Development & Marketing Directorate with their business proposal and filled-in proforma for creation of biller id. Once the proposal is accepted by India Post, User id & Password and Biller Id Number will be generated through system and informed to the biller through e-mail automatically.
